2026: The Year of Transformation | New Year Message from Bishop Ebenezar Adewole

1st January 2026
Diocese of Lagos South West

Welcome to 2026! In this powerful New Year message, the Right Reverend Ebenezar Adewole, Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos Southwest, declares 2026 as the "Year of Transformation."

Are you ready to grow deeper in your faith this year? Bishop Adewole shares a prophetic word based on 2 Corinthians 3:18, reminding us that we are called to be transformed from glory to glory as we behold the Lord. This message serves as a call for every believer to intentionally manifest the image of Jesus Christ in everything they do.

To experience true transformation in 2026, Bishop Adewole outlines six core attributes of Christ found in the Gospel of Mark that we must adopt: 1. A Prayer-Filled Life: Prioritising communication with God. 2. A Spirit-Led Life: Staying in tandem with the Holy Spirit. 3. A Compassionate Life: Actively meeting the needs of others and solving problems. 4. A Life of Wholeness: Living a sacramental life where there is no divide between the "secular" and the "spiritual." 5. A Life of Purity: Living a sanctified life that reflects the Gospel. 6. A Word-Filled Life: Rooting your responses to life's issues in the Holy Scriptures.

“I am Right Reverend Ebenezer Adewole, Bishop, Diocese of Lagos South West. Welcome to 2026, our year of Transformation. Happy New Year.”

“Our Father and our God, we thank you for the new year 2026 which you have given to us as a gift. Thank you Lord for bringing the year to us and for bringing us into the year. Your word says that your mercies are new every morning, and that every good and perfect gift comes from above, from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning. Lord, we receive the gift of this year with a heart of thanksgiving. We pray you bless this year for us. Crown this year with your goodness for us. Make it for us a year of your presence, a year of your provision, a year of your protection. Thank you, heavenly Father. In Jesus’ name we pray.”

“I have listened to the Lord concerning the year 2026, and what I have heard clearly is that 2026 is the year of Transformation. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 3:18 that as we behold Him, we are transformed from glory unto glory. God wants us as believers to reflect fully the image of Jesus Christ. He receives us as we are, but His love will not allow us to remain as we are.”

“This year calls for intentional progress in Christ-likeness. As people stayed with Christ, others looked at them and said, ‘These people have been with Christ.’ That is the call for us in 2026, to reflect more of Jesus Christ in all that we do.”

“From the Gospel according to St. Mark, we see core attributes in the life of Jesus that must guide us this year: a prayer-filled life, a Spirit-led life, a compassionate life, a life of wholeness, a life of purity, and a word-filled life. These are what we must connect with so that the percentage of Christ in us keeps increasing month by month.”

“It is my prayer that this year will not be ordinary for us. It will be a year of progress in spirituality, progress in holiness, progress in prayer, progress in compassion, and progress in living a whole life. Thank you, heavenly Father. Blessed be your name. In Jesus’ name we pray.”
