Pentecost Sunday Celebration: Endowment Fundraising and Grand Merit Awards

The Cathedral Church of Pentecost, 21 Road, Festac Town was filled with joy as we marked Pentecost Sunday in a spectacular way.
Preaching on the theme of God's Promised Spiritual Blessings, the Bishop centered his message on the abiding, transformational presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.
KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE BISHOP'S MESSAGE:
The Holy Spirit as a Gift to the Church
The Bishop made a profound distinction: "While Christ is God's gift to the world, the Holy Spirit is explicitly God's gift to the Church and to every believer."Three Core Facets of This Spiritual Blessing:
- Presence: The Holy Spirit dwells with and in believers so we are never alone.
- Permanence: This divine presence is not temporary; He is with us forever.
- Power: The Holy Spirit brings the essential dynamic power required for a believer's daily life and kingdom service.
The Sevenfold Nature of the Spirit
Drawing from Isaiah 11:1-3, His Lordship identified the seven facets of the Spirit's nature that every believer can walk in: Power, Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Might, Knowledge, and the Fear of the Lord.
Believers as Solution Providers
A central and challenging point of the sermon was that the Holy Spirit equips believers to be solutions to the problems in their families, communities, and nation. Citing Isaiah 58:12 and Acts 10:38, he challenged the congregation to move beyond merely analyzing problems and instead function actively as repairers of breaches and builders of ruins.
Call to Action: Stir Up the Gift
The Bishop concluded with a powerful reminder: If you are born again, the Holy Spirit is already within you. He urged the congregation to aggressively activate this divine gift through intentional prayer, studying the Word, and active faith.
ENDOWMENT FUNDRAISING AND GRAND MERIT AWARDS
The Cathedral hosted the landmark Endowment Fundraising and Grand Merit Award ceremony, a vital step forward in securing the future and expansion of our missionary work.
We were deeply honored to have The Rt. Rev. Rika Garba, Bishop of Takum, grace the occasion. His presence and solidarity added immense significance to this historic event.
The Grand Merit Award session recognized outstanding individuals who have consistently dedicated their time, resources, and energy to the advancement of the Gospel and the growth of the Church.
The Endowment Fundraising witnessed a beautiful demonstration of love and commitment from the congregation, as members sowed generously into the long-term vision of the diocese.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Pioneer Bishop, His Lordship The Rt. Rev. Dr. Ebenezer Ajayi Adewole (PhD), the Bishop's wife Dr Mrs Mercy Folashade Adewole, the Cathedral clergy, the Endowment Fundraising committee ably led by Sir John Imevbore, and the entire diocesan family for making this day unforgettable.
